- About Me: It's fun to know our members a little bit.
- pdxdog™.com is a product of my experience as a dog loving business owner in the Pearl District for several years. I loved meeting the people and dogs who came into my shop (Pearl Retriever) everyday.
In addition to working on pdxdog™ I also work on helping organizations and communities collaborate, build partnerships, plan and evaluate what they are doing in practical ways.
I love to work with other people on creative and innovative projects.
I am particularly proud of my Fellowship in the U.S. Department of Justice. I was invited to evaluate President Clinton's Advancing Community Policing grants across the country.
I am interested in community building and social networking. I love dogs and the dog loving community. I'd like this network to become a meaningful part of Portland life.

- Ellie - Golden Retriever, she is 3½ and quite a personality.
Jake - Golden Retriever. I lost him in 2004 when he was 8.

- Why Did You Join This Network? This helps us meet needs and understand expectations.
- To develop a positive & collaborative social network in Portland. An online "place" where members have a strong sense of ownership, inspire each other, and learn new things together. I think it will evolve over time.
- How Did You Hear About pdxdog.com and this Social Network? We want to know how you found us.
- I created it with advice from dog loving people and the desire to do something new and different.

- There are a bunch I really like. I love our Double Diners (pdxdogfeeders), the Sensible Harness, products by George (good price and well made), Buddy Belts, Isabella Cane collars and leashes (such great design and colors), Kong's filled with good wet dog food and frozen, Bodhi Toys, Jax & Bones Beds, and Olly Dog products.

Missed the Blessing Today
Ellie and I went to find the First Christian Church today for the Annual Blessing of the Animals and couldn't find the church, I don't think I went far enough down Broadway! I really wanted to go this year and to see all the animals in the church. Bummer for me.

Advertising on pdxdog™.com & protecting our integrity
A message to all members of pdxdog: (I sent this email to every member in June, in case you didn't read it, I've decided to post it here for everyone to see.) Most everyone is doing a fantastic job of keeping the website clear of stealth advertising - thank you so much. How are you? I've settled into Santa Cruz but am still missing the incredible dog scene in Portland - dogs are SOOO lucky in that town!
So I'm still planning on persuing the 'dog running' thing and was hoping to get in touch with 'Sienna' to ask her some questions about the dog walking business - I know she is so experienced and educated - it would be great to talk to her! Do you have her email? I'm considering taking a class in San Francisco through DogTec (http://www.dogtec.org/). Sounds like it would be a good resource to get me started and on the right track. I've also found out about an awesome product/culture in the UK: CaniX (canine cross-country). It is RIGHT up my alley - you should check it out (http://cani-cross.co.uk/index.shtml). It is pretty inspiring! They organize cross-country races with dogs and their owners! And they sell a product that lets you run 'hands free' with your dog. I'm considering contacting them for more information and if they have any affiliates in the US.
So how did the Ruff Wear shoot go with Ellie? I would love to see some photos! And it looks like PDX dog is doing really well! Almost 500 members!!!! How are things with you and the Avenue Loft?
