Event Description

As part of the larger Riverfest 2008 celebration, South Waterfront will have a festival on September 6th.
This festival will feature live music, retail and food vendors, sailing regatta, art exchange, PICA TBA performances, etc., and PdxDog™ Town. We invite the Portland Dog community to come down to South Waterfront and enjoy the festivities with their furry friends.

This is going to be so fun! Alfie and I are really excited - especially for the costume contest. I just bought Alf's costume this week :)

The Doggie Day Spa will be the high-light for these two guys on such a hot day. It takes two to bath Hilo.

Usually for big festival type events we have the dogs behind the table so we can make sure kids don't poke fingers inside the cages and they don't get so stressed out. Sounds like I only need to bring the flyers, water, poop bags, dogs and crates. Wow this will be an easy set up. We have an Oregon Dog Rescue banner that is about 6 feet long. Will there be a place to hang it?

Riverfest Update. Please Read.

1). Everyone bring 1 gallon of water so we have water for the dogs to drink. A bowl would be good too.

2). Poop Bags, need these.

3). Does anyone have a rope and stakes so we can rope off a dog restroom area near the Porta Potties in the South West Corner? Please let me know, or I will have to buy it.

4). We will have two tents, not three. In one tent we will have our paying vendors and the dog adoption and rescue groups, these are big tents. Adoption Groups, do you want the dogs in front of the tables or behind, we have to tell Brian.

5). Brian is providing the tables and 2 chairs for the vendors and dog adoption and rescue groups.

6). Our participant vendors will be in the other big tent. You guys have to bring your own table and chairs. We will also have the tables and chairs from DWR for people to sit on.

7). The tents will be set up in a L configuration on the South East Corner. Denise, you will have plenty of room for the demos. Do you have rope, fence, etc. so you can cordon off the area?

8). Judges: Deb Wood, Elan and Kenjii, and Daryn and Art. Please be at the site no later than 11:15, the Pet Parade starts at 11:30. I will email you separately about the process.

9). Please, please, please send out the Event to all your email lists! This is our last push and we want to make sure people know this is a dog friendly event as well as a community event. Anything you can do to push this day, please do it.

10). Bring your cards and wear any gear that identifies your business.

11). Any more raffle items or prizes are really welcome. Daryn is organizing these and the Goody Bags. We will be stuffing the bags on Friday - I will let you know what time once I speak with Daryn.

12). I think we will have several hundred dollars we still owe the Festival, so if you can donate toward these costs it would be greatly appreciated.

13). Unloading will be on Bond and Gaines Streets. There will be a vendor parking lot as well as a lot for attendees.

14). Dog Walkers, Laurie Donaldson from Tails of Two Cities is helping us coordinate the Dog Walkers Corps, it is an informal group to help us relieve dogs on site who may need a break. It's also a good opportunity to promote your business.

I am not caring for any guest dogs that day, but may bring my two. It depends partly on the weather, as well as another event that day that we have scheduled.

We will be there working the Lexidog booth and supporting Oregon dog rescue:) OK, so Sidney will stay home..But I will be there-probably with an ODR dog! I CAN'T believe we still have the two we are fostering!!

The Active Canine is very excited to help support local shelters through this event. Look for our item we will have up for auction and come see us for a coupon and flyer about our Grand opening! yay! Go RESCUE DOGS!!!
