Charlie and I are in SE but work in SW and would love to find some other dog parks than the one we frequent. Anywhere in town would be welcomed. Any suggestions?
I've been to several dog parks in the portland area and personally, I go to Hondo park in Hillsboro. It's a hike even for someone in Beaverton with a dog park 5 minutes away, but it seems to be the place with the most responsible owners. Plus, a small dog section keeps the prey away from the big boys. :)
It's also has a water maintained grass area and a winter dirt area. Lastly, I believe it was voted BEST DOG PARK somewhere.
Check out www.portlandpooch.com/dogparks. It gives a full list of dog parks, if they are fenced or not and if they have water available. It also has pictures, maps and reviews.
I love the dog park at Mary S Young state park in West Linn. It's not fenced in, but is quite large and has water. Plus, there are a few miles of trails in the park for hiking, and a small area down by the river where you can let the dogs swim. One summer, I think I was there 3-4 nights a week, even though I live in Hillsboro. :-)
