Good idea, Kim! I think you and Sidney have already won the "getting people to join" challenge. Most of us heard about pdxdog from you! :)

I'm in for the challenge! So far I put the www.pdxdog.com info in every adoption packet, it is a link on my weekly Oregon dog rescue newsletter, the badge is on my real estate website and the link goes out to that database of about 1,500 friends. I have also been posting it on other dog sites as one of my favorites and inviting people i am meeting through those networking sites to check it out and join up. I ask everyone I meet if they have heard of it and then encourage them to check it out. Tomorrow Sidney's mom Kim is bringing me the pdx postcards so I can start distributing them. A photo contest to enter their dog as the next pdxdog postcard could be a way to draw new people to the site. If we had criteria and a deadline we could all send an email announcement out to our own sphere and networking groups.

This is a terrific challenge! I love the idea of the next postcard photo contest. Let me think about the timing so we can get it out in time. It will probably be sometime in late August, depending on the number of cards we use now. I could float some criteria and you guys could respond and react to it.

If we timed it right we could also gather a small group of judges from our membership (if they don't have dogs in the contest...)

Thanks for starting this up!

I am going to need more postcards. Kim brought a stack and we handed out about 35 at our Bark Market event and I left a stack at the Bark Market to distribute to their customers. I happened to have some in my purse (surprise) and we were eating downtown on the waterfront. I gave out 6 to a table of dog owners and handed out 5 more to strollers who stopped to visit with Ruby. Its easy to pass out the cards as everyone with a dog is interested.
Ruby says she would volunteer not to enter the contest and so her mom could be a judge if you decide to hold a contest.

Hi Barb and Ruby,

How can I get you more cards? What is easy for you? I so appreciate you all handing them out.

As soon as we get passed this next ad deadline and the meeting at the Hotel Monaco, I'll think about the process for the postcard pictures.

The Lexi Dog at Bridgeport is easy for me. Don't know if they have some I can grab? My office is right across from the St Vincent hospital but we hold our regular adoption days at the Tualatin Petsmart and Bridgeport lets us wash and groom some of the bigger more difficult dogs there on Friday afternoons.

Are you going to be at Pets in the Pearl this Saturday? Or at our Monday meeting at the Monaco? I'll be bringing cards to both events.

Thanks so much.

Kim is going to bring them to me Saturday as we have an adoption event. I believe Cindy Green on of our volunteers is going to attend. I work until 6:30 so can't get to a downtown meeting at 5.
