Abbrielle du Chanel (Abby) is a 12.5 year old tri-colored Papillon. She earned her Championship and was then bred almost to death and abandoned at a Papillon rescue group. When I brought Abby home I thought I was adopting her, but in reality, she was adopting me. At first she spent a great deal of time hiding in her crate and although it took almost a year for her to really trust me, and even longer for her to let me hold her, she adored my husband from the first moment she met him. She has been with me through college, grad school, and wedding planning, and has lived with me in seven homes in three states. Abby nearly went bald from all the stress-relieving petting that I did to her during my first year of teaching! After 8 years it still breaks my heart that she cowers when strangers reach for her, and we long ago decided to let her stay home where she feels safe and secure. Abby is the sweetest little soul, wanting nothing more from life than a soft place to sleep and an occasional treat.

Justa Little Mini Kooper (Kooper) is a 10 month old blue merle Miniature Australian Shepherd. After years of trying to lure my mom's beloved Aussie, Taz, away from her, Brent & I decided it was time to add our own Mini Aussie to the family. Fully aware of the tendancy that Aussies have to be timid and/or hyper, I spent a lot of time researching breeders. Three days before Christmas I flew to Whitesville, KY and picked up this little fluffball with blue eyes. True to his family tree, Kooper is a lover of people and dogs and was just selected as Mr. Yappy Hour at Urban Wineworks. (On a side note, he will be featured on the cover of the OHS calendar for 2009!) We have high hopes for this little boy. He just finished Foundation Agility and will be starting CGC classes. I would like to have him trained well enough to participate in "Read to the Dogs" by his second birthday. That might be ambitious, but it gives us something to work towards!

Ellie's little sis' name is Hafu, she's 6 months old, and really is Ellie's little sis, actually, half sis :)

Ellie is in Agility training now, her first competition will be in March (hopefully)
and I spend almost every weekend shooting agility around the NW LOL

Thank you for inviting us to join pdxdog! Great to meet you at Doggie Palooza. That picture I just saw of Kooper as a puppy in his Santa hat is the cutest thing I have EVER seen! Emily

I am sorry I never responded to this. I haven't been on the site in a while and for some reason I didn't get an email telling me you asked.

I will get you the info on building weaves.

Hey there,
Yes, I do think there should be better directions next time! I'm going to a meeting next week to discus the ups and downs of this years event... I'll bring that up for sure!
Have a great week :)

HI Valerie,
You're not an idiot!! The "Dogtown" was further south, by the OHSU tram. There is a field in the middle of all the south waterfront buildings and it was held there... no worries though! I think you guys would have liked it, but there is always next year! Plus... you're not the only one that got lost :)

Hi Valerie,
It would be so much fun to have you and Kooper in the next class at PetUtopia. There will be a couple of great danes in there too :) The class is from 5:30-7:00 on Saturday the 13th. I'll send out a "what to expect" email for the class too. If you think you guys want to sign up call the super nice ladies at PetUtopia and see if they still have any openings on the sign up at the store.
Baltimore huh? Have you thought about teaching in Portland? Your personality is so upbeat and fun, I'm sure our school system would be happy to have you.
Take care and see you guys this weekend... the weather is supposed to be nice too :)

Hi there,
No worries at all! I have a hard time telling people about my business sometimes... especially at Yappy Hour, since it's more fun and mingling and not so much educating folks.
I'm so happy I'll get to see you and Kooper at Riverfest!
Let me know when you'd like to sign up for the class (didn't you get the gift certificate for that?) and I'll make sure you guys are on the sign up sheet. The next couple of classes are in Beaverton. I've got one this weekend at Pup-a-razzi, and then next weekend at Pet Utopia.
I took sign language class in college that I loved! I bet that was a rewarding job for you.
Please give Abby and Kooper a pet for me :)

Hey Valerie! Thanks for adding us as your friend on here. I was so happy Kooper won Mr. Yappy Hour! I told my boyfriend before they even announced the Top 3 that he was going to win!
I look forward to seeing you guys around town at some of the dog events :)
