Brian and I are going to have a booth at the Doggie Dash for Dog Bone Cafe, so we will both be wearing Dog Bone Cafe shirts. But I still want to walk with pdxdog.
April 23, 2009
That is Bruno, although we are changing his name to Rocco. We thought having "no" in his name might confuse him, plus he didn't really seem to respond to Bruno that well. I'm so glad our booth was next to Oregon Dog Rescue!

Profile Information

Introduce Yourself
My name is Tracy, I'm a registered dietitian and work part time at Shriners Hospital.

I attempted to start a dog food company, Dog Bone Cafe, unfortunately it didn't work out. I love dogs and would love to find a part time job doing something that involves dogs. As a dietitian I not only have a thorough knowlegde of human nutrition but I have also received training in canine nutrition.

I'm glad I found this pdxdog, what a great idea!
Tell us about your pets
Hannah is a golden mix that I adopted in Arizona.
Rocco is a doberman/lab mix that we adopted from Oregon Dog Rescue.

Hi Tracy, Hannah is so cute...great pics! Now she just needs a Bruno brother. It was really nice to meet you guys too. Best of luck with Dog Bone Cafe. It is so nice to see "cooked" locally made dog food.

Hi Tracy, It was nice to meet you today. Bruno was still there when I left today! Maybe it's fate that he got to spend some time with you today. Please let me know how it turns out. I'll be at the booth tomorrow and I'll be sure to hand out some more of your postcards.

Haha, yes, they are unique and amazing little dogs. Once you have one, it is hard to not have 3! Best of luck on growing your group! BTW, I love Goldens. Such sweet and gentle creatures.

Honestly, Tracy, it kinda happened! Chi people are always looking for ways to entertain their dogs, cuz chi's are so weird around other breeds, I think that was part of it. I did put an ad on craigslist, but I think I only got about 3 people out of that. Another thing I did was scan the members on pdxdog and look for pix of chi's, and then invite them. Plus, whenever I have arranged a play day, random chi owners showed up, and I made an announcement that we were associated with pdxdog and urged them to join the site. That helped. If I can help you in any way, please let me know.

Hellooo ~ many years ago I had big dogs, and I love them and I would have a few now if hubby would go for it. As it is, he would prefer we not have ANY pets (or so he says) but he is the first to grab a dog to take to bed with him. I think there is plenty of room to have a large breed with a small breed. If you LQQK at pictures, you'll see so many together and while the large breeds to love to snuggle in the bed, typically they are on top of the covers as paper weights. Chihuahuas, I have found are under the covers and toe warmers or snuggle close to the body like little hot water bottles and it's SOOO nice! I hope everyone with a big dog will consider adopting a small one too. I can tell you one thing, I did NOT like chihuahuas ... yappy little things until I rescued Giselle, timid, shy, reserved and very quiet. Then came Edgar, who by the way is an excellent watch and guard dog! Evian was next with Edwina and now Eloise. Only Edgar and Evian will bark (when the doorbell rings or when one of my kids (adults) drop in and try to head upstairs w/o saying hello, they are busted because he does bark until they acknowledge him! Good Job Edgar! Edgar also will growl in a low gutteral growl at night in bed if anybody comes onto the property, into our drive, etc. just to let me know ~ hey check it out. So ~ the "yappy dog" title does not belong to all little dogs, certainly not mine, I guess I am more the yappy one Hugs to all who read this and your babies! Muuuuuuah ~ Dede :)

Thanks for the note- at Golden Bond, we've taken on a project to try to link together golden and golden-mix owners throughout the Northwest. It's at: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/NWGoldens/ and I'd love to see everyone sign up! We're aiming to publicize a mix of fun activities and area walks- (at our last walk we had 70+ goldens there!)
