Introduce Yourself
Hi my name is Sherri and I have been addicted to dogs since age 7. Moving to PDX allowed me to honor my pledge to allow my dogs the best life possible. This is a great town to raise a dog "child".
Coming from California where we looked always for snakes, cactus and foxtails the woods and rivers of Oregon are a blessing beyond belief.
I have trained dogs old world style and evolved in the clicker and positive schools when they came to the fore.
For years on end I joined all the dog clubs, and organizations and went to conferences all over the country. Now I am just enjoying life with dogs and savoring maturity and working for dogs via the county shelter and DLAATE team animal assisted therapy as a volunteer .
Dog photography is a passionate hobbie and I am always game to take pictures.
I also now have expanded my "babysittig" friends dogs ,and foster care for the county dogs into a boarding in home service available to the community. Life is good.
Tell us about your pets
For 23 plus years German Shepherds ruled my heart and my life via GSD rescue operations; service dog work and my own incredibly special dogs.
And then in the face of even my icredibility and chagrin; I adopted a foster dog that was a LWF ( little white furry) Maltese from MCAS. The shock of it lasted all the way through the second dog adoption another Maltese 2 years later.
Now life is dominated by two senior Maltese: One of whom aspires to being a GSD in his heart." Sprout "is my old codger at age 12 now with me a year and 5 months. That is really old for a German shepherd ; so I am impressed with this bit of little dog reality.
"Gem" at age 8 or 9 is my rare miracle of a dog disabled in body... and extraordinary in spirit. She is Therapy dog that specializes in hospice work. She has humbled me in a whole new way.
Dogs are SO cool !
