Get together and chat about fun in the snow with our dogs! Do you snowshoe, ski, skijor, dog sled, pull a pulk, or just enjoy getting out and about in the snow with your dog? Come and share information about good spots and equipment!

Alas, I am working next week. I might be able to take one day off, but I won't know for sure until I see how next week develops. I can definitely do the Saturdays after Christmas and New Years, and possibly one day mid-week next week. I can hardly w…

Great! I'm not working next week, so pick whatever day is best for you. I just like to avoid Fridays to avoid the crazy Portland traffic!! I'll get my snowshoes out and dust them off. :-)

I am very interested in learning more about bikejoring and carting, particularly for my Toby (a Great Pyrenees/Siberian Husky mix). Skijoring might be something I could do down the road, once my back and knees improve. Does anyone here do this sort…

I'm not sure my Toby qualifies as a giant breed. He's often the biggest dog at the park, but he can appear quite petite compared to a Great Dane. Toby is a Great Pryenees/Siberian Husky mix, and weighs only 110 lbs. Perhaps he is just a big dog and…

Introduce Yourself
Born and raised in the Portland area, I moved back here after being away for more than twenty years. I'm always looking for fenced dog parks to try out, as Toby's recall is less than stellar. My life seems to revolve around my dogs, at least the part of my life that is outside work, so finding fun places for them to interact with other dogs is a priority for me.
Tell us about your pets
Toby - my 4-yr old Great Pyrenees/Siberian Husky mix. He is one sweet boy!
Macy - my 9-10-yr old lab mix. She tends to get overly excited and suffers from separation anxiety.
I have 4 cats:
Tasha - my queen kitty, who rules everyone with an iron paw!
Kiki - Shy and gentle, she loves to have her cheek stroked.
Blackie - My only male, and the only cat I've had from a kitten. He was the only black kitty in his litter, and no one wanted him! He's a sweetheart!
Felicia - She's my talker and demands her independence. The neighbors call her "Gaby".
There are also fluctuating numbers of foster cats and kittens. I foster for the Multnomah Co. Animal Shelter.

Hi Janice and Co.!
Thanks so much for joining us. We are finding new and not so new parks all the time. I'm hoping we can go to some of them together and play. pdxdog2™ can be and do a lot of things. I've learned the more you participate, the more you have fun. Have a great time and if you have any questions, be sure and ask away.

Thanks, Janice! There are a few other parks that are fenced. Normandale Park on NE Halsey near 58th - nice trees, squirrels - is one of my favorites. Also, Brush Prairie Park, created by Dog Paw, is really nice, though a bit out of the way. It's off of 117th St., you can go to Dog Paw's website. There are also 2 fenced parks in North Portland, Chimney and Delta. And the Sandy River Delta Park - though not fenced - works well for my dogs. I've learned that there's a new park up on Clatsop Butte out here in the Far Southeast that will have a fenced dog park some day....
