Introduce Yourself
I work as a technical marketing engineer in Hillsboro. Outside of work, I love travel, photography, volunteering, and anything that gets me outside and in nature - hiking, exploring, snowshoeing, trail running .. Give me a trail or a long stretch of coastline, the pup, and my camera, and I couldn't ask for anything else.
Tell us about your pets
I have a weimaraner named Atlas. He is just about the best companion a girl could have - active, energetic, goofy, friendly, curious, sweet, and always up for anything.

a tired dog is an angelic dog

So far, the one place that seems to work the best for tiring the pup out is the coast - wherever I can let him run off-leash.

Last weekend, friends of mine from the midwest were out in Astoria with their Goldendoodle so Atlas and I went out to spend the weekend with them. On Friday night, we let the dogs run at Ft. Stevens for a while to "introduce" them to each other. They met last year, but Charlie the Goldendoodle was a tiny little fluff-ball. While he seemed to recognize Atlas, I'm not sure… Continue

dog parks and food

I am not a huge fan of dog parks - for a few reasons, but mostly because there are so many people that bring treats along. Atlas spends most of his time at a dog park going from person to person, scouting for treats, because he has learned from experience that there will be some. And he is always rewarded.

I don't bring treats with me. For one, because most dog parks say "no food", and so I thought it was expected. For two, because I have seen fights escalate over food, and I can see how that c… Continue

Atlas Shrugged is one of my favorite books too! We just named our dog Fin (because his teeth are like shark teeth, so he's a fin of that shark), but I wish we had thought of Atlas, I really like it. :)

hi Elizabeth
just reading through old messages and saw yours from last year about the Call of the Wild Dog camp -- it is happening this year on Sept 4-6. Registration is now open - you can download the flyer and reg form from my website www.citydogcountrydogtraining.com.
I hope you and your beautiful dog can make it this year!

It is a TON of fun!! I got Heffner fitted through Alpine Outfitters. A custom harness for him was only $22!! If you want to get a good fit I definitely recommend contacting Kim Tinker at kimtinker@teleport.com. She'll get you all set up! I'm going to get Bess fitted this fall. Although the thought of hooking both of them up to anything that pulls me is a little scary!
