Oh, your black labs are just beautiful! And as for your kitty, he's just too darn smart! I love the velcro idea. I've used rubber bands on mine.
That's funny. Our cat figured out how to open our cabinets, but not only that he learned that if he didn't open them all the way and just opened them a little bit it makes a noise. So, when he wants to wake us up he would bang the cabinet doors. Ver…

- Introduce Yourself
- I am a local author and illustrator of books for dog and cat lovers. My company, Lighthearted Press, publishes For Every Dog An Angel, For Every Cat An Angel, and other heartfelt books that celebrate the magical connection we have with our animal companions. Our books our used by veterinarians, pet cemeteries and animal shelters, and are sold in book and gift stores across the country.
- Tell us about your pets
- After spending my whole life in the company dogs, I lost my beloved dog, Jake, in 2005. Jake had rescued and raised a litter of kittens he found under our deck back in 1998. Right now those 4 kitties - Dickens, Pippen, Molly and Star - are keeping me company as we await the next magical dog who is meant to find us!
- How did you find us?
- I had heard of pdxdog in the past, and then the fabulous Connie Bowen reminded me what a great group this is!

It's great to see an actual photo of Jake. After reading and re-reading For Every Dog an Angel a bazillion times and sending it my grieving friends, it warms my heart to see your inspiration. You seem to like similar colors as I. Your books and your cat enclosure all seem to have a similar pallette. Glad to see you're here!

Kristina - The Active Canine said… - thank you, we think she is beautiful too, though we are biased! :) she and the kitty are kind of "scared" of each other, so they respect each other space. However, both are willing to curl up next to each other if it means they can both be on mom's lap, so they get along fine if a lap is involved! :) animals are funny creatures!
