Project pit.

This group is for all of us who love the breed and want to help the breed find peace and establish the wonderful reputation it once had as the all American dog, Protect against BSL and promote the spay and neuter of any dog.

Irresponsible ownership, over breeding, combined with the media has made the Apbt into a vicious ferocious beast, when in reality the apbt is purely a victim. Everyday all over the world apbt are victimized, abused, neglected mistreated and most of all misunderstood.
WE MUST EDUCATE THE TRUTH!!!
We need to help these adoptable apbt that are in the county shelters all throughout Oregon find good responsible homes or foster care so that they can stop being euthanized. In Oregon pit bulls account for almost 50 percent of the dogs residing in county shelters sometimes even more. They simply don’t have the time or the money to keep all of the dogs. This is not right.
We can do our part to help these dogs, encouraging people to adopt, fostering a dog or ten!
Volunteering and getting involved in the community SAVE THE PITS!!! one dog at a time

What moving vintage photos in this profile. Yes, I have loved -- and will love -- many pits in my lifetime.

I think a meet up is a great idea. I know Chimney Park seems very pit friendly.

Multnomah County Animal Services has some beautiful pit bulls that need a home!!!

Roxy is a sweet, cute, and rather chunky girl that rubs up against you like a cat! I took her to K103 radio station for our Pet of the Week segment (twice) and she is great. She was adopted once before, but her family returned her due to financial hardship. They loved her!

Jeremiah is a big, sweet, and goofy boy who is currently in foster care, and his foster mom adores him. He gets along with cats and female dogs, and though we do not recommend him living with a male dog, he is tolerating his elderly foster dog brother (he doesn't move much).

Banjo is a handsome white and brindle boy who is smart and responds quickly to training (though I don't think he actually plays a banjo). He is about 2, and would make an awesome jogging or hiking companion!

Catfish is a big, gorgeous lug of a guy who will be featured on K103 FM tomorrow at 7:50 am. Tune in and listen - this guy is sweet as sugar (but not to be breaded!).

This is only a sample of the pitties we have, and we put more up for adoption every week (sometimes every day!). I'm sure everyone in this group knows how hard it is to adopt out pitties to responsible, loving homes and it is not uncommon for well over half of our adoptable dogs to be pitties.

If you or someone you know is looking to adopt a pit bull, or if they are even open to the idea, please send them our way! Even if they adopt elsewhere, maybe they will tell someone they know... etc.... :)

Thank you everyone for all you do for this awesome and much-maligned breed!
