Kelly Point Park is a great place to take dogs. Early in the morning is best before rest of the public arrives. There are trails, two rivers for swimming in and woods to explore. Generally, there is open spaces for all, where well mannered dogs can run off leash. (although technically it is not an off-leash park)

Sara (and Nina): yes, the Columbia Agility Team does rent two fully-furnished barns (Wilsonville and Forest Grove) to their members at a cost of $25/month for a one-hour slot. Becoming a member requires that you work at a trial and attend a meeting (and find a sponsor) (and then be approved by the CAT board). There is a CAT trial in Ridgefield on Sept 12/13 (NADAC, my favorite venue) and a meeting a week or so later, so you could be a member by the end of October The CAT website will have details of how to join.

Sara, if you join one of the local clubs, such as Columbia Agility Team, they rent time with their equipment to their members

http://www.columbiaagility.org/

there is also WAG (Wilamette Agility Group), PAC (Portland Agility Club) and CRAC (Columbia River Agility Club) ... I'm not totally sure exactly where the 4 clubs are, if each club has their equipment set up in a barn or not, and I'm not yet a member of any of the clubs

I do know CAT has the above mentioned setup, because our trainer told us about it :)

Also, come join our Agility group, hopefully we'll get group members who will know more about it than I do :)

member and author Val Mallinson has come out with her 2nd Edition of The Dog Lovers Companion to The Pacific Northwest. It is truly a wonderful traveling book to plan trips with your pooch and keep in your car.

Sara, neither the Agility club nor the training center I belonged to in WA wanted non-members to use their equipment. The rules at some places may be different here, but dogs and their people really should be properly trained and conditioned before using the equipment on their own...

Paula Ratoza on Pdxdog has been our obedience and agility instructor over the years. She has regular classes and would be able to tell you if you could have access to the course off times.

good question. I wonder if Kayla Ross knows, she does all the flyball.

I found a fantastic, quiet place on Sauvie Island for Ellie to swim and get her Frisbee. It's so nice to be out in open land and all the farming.

The only thing that made sense, for Ellie's exercise, was swimming. We are so lucky to have so many places to go!

Does anyone know if there is a place where the general public can have access to an agility course?

Thank you for the information on intact dogs at the local dog parks. We have been enjoying the one in Sellwood this week.
