You too Rubi. It's been too long!

I bet Ellie loves Smudge :)
Give them both pets for me and a hug for you.

Thanks you guys! Smudge is very touchy about me picking him up still, so getting him into the crate is a bit of an issue still.

I'll get him over to Courtney for sure, however slowly! Thanks about the toys.

Imp has an eye that does the same thing as Rubi's. My vet flushed out her tear duct the last time had a dental just to make sure that wasn't the issue.

You can find both toys at Petutopia, although the squaking mouse tends to be pretty popular. I gave one to a coworker a couple of weeks ago and her cat has taken to carrying it around like a kitten. It is really cute.

Hi Andrea,
The eye dripping might be good to bring up to Dr. Anders if it gets worse. One of our cats gets a drippy eye that our veterinarian said would be just fine. He doesn't have it all the time, but occasionally one eye will be weepy.
Have fun shopping at PetUtopia :)

Hi Meg and Rubi,
I totally love your advice. Does Petutopia have these cat toys? I have started mixing the dry food and the new one, Wellness, Smudge seems to like.
I see he needs more exercise, so that kicker toy sounds great. I just have to keep his toys away from Ellie.

I change Ellie's food every so often so she will get used to change and also develop immunities to different things (it's my theory), so it makes sense that would work for cats too.

Another question: Do your cats ever have an eye that "drips" a tiny bit. It's not really a drip, but something in the corner of the eye. I don't think it's serious, but have noticed this from time to time.

Imp also likes EVO. She has been on a catkins diet for the past year - high protein, low carbs due to weght issues. One thing my vet recommended was to mix several variaties together, that way she would get used to change.

I also recommend getting a slimcat treat ball. I got one a couple of weeks ago and it dispenses food when it is batted about. It gets Imp moving, plus it provides entertainment.

As far as toys - Imp loves her catnip kickers, they are big enough for her to wrap her front paws around and kick it with her back legs (hence the name). Her other favorite is a mouse that squeaks when it is touched. I can't remember the name but Petutopia carries them (I would imagine that Pixie Project may as well - they a very nice selection of cat toys)

Hmmm... With our cats they'll eat anything. We usually get Wellness or Felidae for the dry stuff, and Merrick or Tiki cat for the wet stuff. I'm sure any higher quality food is good though. Cats are finicky sometimes, so if the wet stuff doesn't work right away try a different style. We had a cat that loved his cat nip cigar. He would rub on it, snuggle with it and lick it til it was soggy. Shoe laces or toilet paper rolls are fun to play with cats too. I don't think you need to spend too much on toys (although it's fun!) since they love playing with just about anything.

Thanks Rubi, I've heard the same thing.Balance it out and wet food is important because of water. Do you favor any particular brands of dry food?
While I'm at it, what about toys for cats? I have the laser light, but what else do they like?
Rubi Comment by Rubi on June 21, 2009 at 10:07am
I've heard that cats can benefit from wet food, because they tend to not drink as much water as dogs do, so they are less hydrated. But, I know some cats that are just on dry food and look happy and healthy! Our cats are on a little of both to split the difference :) You might as Dr. Anders what her stance is on the subject next time you're in
