Portland's dog loving social network

UPDATE: Thanks Everyone for Helping to pick our two beneficiaries - Oregon Dog Rescue and Portland Parks and Recreation. These are both terrific organizations. We wish we could have picked everyone. We will post the next steps soon.

pdxdog.com needs to pick two groups which will benefit by participating in this Project. They must be located in Portland. We've already chosen Pixie Project, Dove Lewis and OHS, so no need to nominate them.

pdxdog.com need to let NN know our picks by the end of the week 01/09/09

From Our Member and Advertiser Neighborhood Notes:
"Basically, our (NN) contributors and readers are selecting a list of beneficiaries that they want to support in 2009. The sponsors on neighborhoodnotes.com are given the opportunity to partner with these charities on community events that raise funds and create awareness. Sponsors accrue one point per partnership project event and these points are accrued quarterly in the neighborhoodnotes.com community bank. At the end of each quarter, the sponsors are able to redeem their points—earned through community involvement—for advertising discounts the next quarter. (5, 10 or 15%) And, at the end of the year, the neighborhoodnotes.com community will vote for its favorite sponsor and beneficiary of the year. The winners will each receive one large annual ad on neighborhoodnotes.com in 2010.

We'll kick off the project 1/15. In a nutshell, it's all about meaningful community engagement and increasing sphere of influence.

I would like to suggest Oregon Dog Rescue as a beneficiary! They do such an awesome job! They are the epitome of what rescue is all about. They prove that we all can get involved and make a difference.
Excellent!

Pacific NW Pit Bull Rescue!
While EVERY rescue would be very deserving, having worked with Oregon Dog Rescue over the last year and seeing how much work the 2 co-founders (and many volunteers) put into caring for the hundreds of dogs that came into rescue last year, I really hope they can be a part of this! I am SO proud to be a volunteer for ODR and can't wait to help more dogs find homes in 2009!
Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for nominating such great organizations. We look forward to supporting the PDXdog community's beneficiaries!
Way to go everyone...thanks for such a quick response. We get to pick 2 by Friday.
I agree with Project Pooch becuase it helps not just dogs, but kids too!
I love Project Pooch and they are a terrific suggestion, but they aren't located in Portland! NN wants to benefit organizations within our city boundaries. So let's keep going. Is Oregon Dog Rescue in the City Boundaries?
My faves are Oregon dog Rescue and Pacific Pug Rescue!
